for the Canadian Dollar against the US Dollar is 1.0850-1.0920
Today's expected range
for the Canadian Dollar against the Euro is 1.5140-1.5200
Today's expected range
for the Canadian Dollar against Sterling is 1.8450-1.8510
The US Dollar is
unchanged against most currencies in quiet overnight trading markets with the
lone exception being in Japan where the Yen is stronger against the Greenback
as the flow of money moves back into Japan. Over the past few days we have seen
equity markets around the world getting hit quite hard, if this continues and
right now there is nothing on the short-term horizon that looks to stop the
losses then the US Dollar should benefit on safe haven flows. The New Zealand
Dollar was hit quite hard overnight as the Governor of the Reserve Bank there
said they will intervene in the currency markets to sell the currency if it
continues to stay as strong as it is. More verbal intervention that we continue
to see from the world’s central bank leaders.
The Canadian Dollar
had a good afternoon yesterday as it was able to extend some gains against the
weak US Dollar and it was also able to extend some gains against the
Euro and Sterling, it has managed to hold onto those gains in quiet overnight
trading conditions. USD.CAD has now dropped over 100 points from the highs right
after the US employment report on Friday, I think the Loonie has more room to run
but market rarely moves in one direction for a long period of time so I look
for USD.CAD to pullback at some point.
Up today we get some
US secondary data and US federal Reserve Chairperson Yellen speaking to
congress on the economy so we could see a little volatility but for the most
part it should be a quiet day.
