GFX Morning Commentary June 17th, 2013

Good Morning,

Today's expected range for the Canadian Dollar against the US Dollar is 1.0125-1.0200

Today's expected range for the Canadian Dollar against the Euro is 1.3520-1.3600

Today's expected range for the Canadian Dollar against Sterling is 1.5940-1.6020

The Us Dollar for the most part is unchanged where we closed it on Friday, with the G8 meeting starting today in Northern Ireland and the US Federal Reserve meeting tomorrow there is enough there to make currency traders nervous and keep their cards close to their vest. Even the Yen had a quiet night as it did weaken a bit against the US Dollar but it seems to have stabilized for the moment as it waits for the Bank of Japan to react to its recent bout of strength.

In the UK the Pound is a little higher against the USD as UK home prices rose for the sixth straight month. If you can get a big rebound in UK housing market then you may be able to see further gains in the overall UK economy, but for now it is nice to see some encouraging news coming out of the UK, it might make Carney's job a little easier.

The Canadian Dollar had a very quiet night as it still trades in the lower end of the 1.0150 to 1.0250 trading range. Up today we get the Existing Home sales report for May and I will be interested to see just what is happening in the Canadian Housing market. So many of the "pundits" have been calling for the housing bubble to burst and so far we just have not seen it, more and more financial markets are starting to pay attention to the housing market so we may get some added volatility this morning.

Have a great day
Mike
