Today's
expected range for the Canadian Dollar against the US Dollar is 1.0250-1.0350
Today's
expected range for the Canadian Dollar against the Euro is 1.2830-1.2950
Today's expected range for the Canadian Dollar against Sterling is 1.5950-1.6075
The
US Dollar is marginally stronger this morning as the Euro was not able to hold
onto the strength it picked up after the Spanish announcement. Investors are
once again looking at this situation as jumping from crisis and not solving the
bigger Europe wide problem. The Austrian Finance Minister came out and said
that Italy may need a bail out which if course was quickly denied, this
situation is a complete mess and will not be resolved for quite a while.
The
Canadian Dollar gave back some of yesterday's strength but continues to trade
in the 1.0200 to 1.0300 range, albeit we are near the top end of the range at
the moment. Once again there is nothing on the Canadian agenda that will push
the Loonie in one direction or another, the value of our currency will continue
to be dictated by events outside our borders. I have noted with interest the
level of rhetoric coming from Ottawa alerting us to a possible slowdown in
Canada should Europe not get there house in order, that is quality leadership
for you, no policy announcements just a good old fashioned warning.
With
the lack of economic news out today I do not expect a busy day, once again if
you need to do something sooner than later play the range, any US sales above
1.0300 should be considered good value and any purchases of USD below 1.0225
would be an excellent purchase today.
