Today's
expected range for the Canadian Dollar against the US Dollar is 1.0180-1.0280
Today's
expected range for the Canadian Dollar against the Euro is 1.2870-1.3000
Today's
expected range for the Canadian Dollar against Sterling is 1.6020-1.6150
The
US Dollar is marginally weaker this morning in very quiet trading conditions as
EU comments on the Greek election have given the Euro a small boost of a boost.
This morning an EU official said the Troika (EU, ECB and IMF) would be willing
to meet the new Greek Government when it is formed to discuss any aid they can
provide to the Greek economy. EURO.USD jumped above 1.2600 but any gains were
again capped by Spain having to pay relatively high interest rates at their
auction today. There are rumours this morning that a Greek collation is close
to being a formed and that once formed a committee will be formed to re-negotiate
the terms of the bailout, such an
announcement would be positive for the Euro, negative for the US Dollar
Sterling
looks like it wants to get stronger as it is now almost certain that the Bank
of England will provide more stimulus to their economy, the recession in Europe
is indeed spilling over to the UK and that economy Is looking vulnerable again.
Nothing
new to report on the Canadian front USD.CAD continues to trade in the 1.0200 to
1.0300 trading range in very lackluster markets. With no comments of substance
coming from the G-20 the lack of economic activity could see us locked in this
range for a while yet. If we get a positive announcement today from Greece the I think
you will see USD.CAD try and break below 1.0200
